Weather satellite images

When the lack of a transmitting antenna forced me into the "listening" mode (circa 1994) I became interested in the reception of images from weather satellites.

NOAA 17 and NOAA 18 are polar orbiting satellites and I endeavour to upload a new picture once a day, although there is no guarantee that this will always happen.

Meteosat is one of a group of geo-stationary satellites like the Sky (Astra) satellites. Direct reception is no longer possible with second generation 'birds' (MSG) and the data is disseminated via the Hotbird commercial satellite at 13° East. This has some advantages for the amateur community.

For more information on both types of satellite please visit the GEO (Group for Earth Observations) site. (See my Links page).
